High Tide Report is a free newsletter about climate and environmental news in Hawai‘i.
Based in Honolulu, this project was started by reporter Anthony Albidrez to help fill in some of the gaps in local and regional coverage of environmental issues across Oʻahu and the rest of the islands.
The goal isn’t to cover everything or compete with other news outlets. It’s to add more reporting to the mix. Climate and environmental stories are happening everywhere, and there’s always room for more attention and context. This is especially vital on the local level.
What You’ll Find
Hawai‘i Headliners: Regular roundups of the latest climate and environment happenings from across the state: short, clear, and to the point.
Original reporting: Longer stories that go deeper into the issues, people, and places shaping Hawai‘i’s future.
Independent and Always Free
There are no paywalls here. High Tide is a solo, independent project committed to public interest journalism. It’s for anyone who wants to stay informed about environmental change in Hawai‘i and what’s being done about it.
High Tide is a pilot project, and things may change as it grows.
I’m learning as I go and welcome feedback, collaboration, and contributions, especially from local and student journalists, photographers, and creators.
